Close to 78,000 Honda cars in India will each see their defective fuel pump get voluntarily replaced by the manufacturer.
Honda Cars India has expanded its campaign to replace fuel pumps in 77,954 units of its select models due to the possibility of them containing fuel pumps with defective impellers.
This could, over time, result in the engine stopping or not starting, says Honda, which has committed to replacing the defective component free of charge to customers.
It is the Honda Amaze that was manufactured between January and August in 2019 which is the most affected, for 36,086 units of the vehicle will be covered under the campaign.
About 20,250 units if the fourth-generation City, 7871 WR-Vs, 6235 units of the Jazz, 5170 units of the CIVIC, 1737 units of the BR-V and 607 CR-Vs will also be covered.
The carmaker will carry out the fuel pump replacement campaign in a phased manner, having already started it on 17th April 2021. Owners of vehicles needing replacement of the defective Honda fuel pump will be contacted individually.
However, due to the restrictive norms put in place by the government to contain the spread of second wave of COVID-19, Honda says its dealer facilities are functioning with limited staff and has advised customers to visit its dealerships with prior appointment to avoid inconvenience.
Honda customers can check if their cars are covered under this campaign by submitting their 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite which has been created on the company’s website.
