Suzuki two-wheeler has recalled upto 54,700 units of the new Access 125 due to faulty axle shaft which might lead to stability issues. Suzuki had launched the new Access 125 in March this year.
The Suzuki Access is a noble little scooter which is known for its peppy engine and solid build, along with the sturdy and reliable Japanese engineering. The gearless scooter was updated by the company as recently as March this year. But it looks like something went slightly wrong down the line as Suzuki has decided to recall around 54,000 copies of the new Access scooters to inspect and replace the rear axle shaft.
Suzuki two-wheelers has announced a voluntary recall of 54,000 units of its Access gearless scooter manufactured between 8th March and 22nd June of this year in order to inspect and replace the rear axle shaft of the scooter. The move is being dubbed by the company as a precautionary measure as issues of rear axle/wheel stability have been identified in some of these scooters. The company says that the replacement of the components will be done free of cost and it will offer free periodic maintenance service to all the customers at the authorised service centres of Suzuki.
Suzuki dealers will start contacting the owners of these two-wheelers from 13th July. The Access is incidentally the largest selling scooter brand for Suzuki in India with a total of 19,390 units of the Access sold in the month of May. Suzuki has just launched the new Access 125 in March this year with updated design and some new features.
The new Suzuki Access is powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, OHC air-cooled engine which produces 8.7 PS of power at 7000 RPM. The scooter is equipped with features such as optional front disc brake, alloy wheels, Suzuki Easy Start System and a multi-function instrument cluster with digital display. The Suzuki Access is priced at Rs. 53,887/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).
