The recall affects 3796 units of the Maruti Ciaz manual variants for a suspected fault with the clutch operations system that were manufactured till 7th November, 2014.
Two months after launching its new flagship offering, Maruti Suzuki has launched a ‘Service Campaign’ for the Ciaz mid-size sedan in order to inspect a suspected fault with the clutch operations system and replace the necessary part on the affected vehicles. The recall affects 3796 units of the Ciaz in its manual avatar in both petrol and diesel engine options that were manufactured till 7th November, 2014.
Maruti has stated that the service campaign has been initiated in the interest of customers and dealers will be getting in touch with the owners to resolve the issue on the affected vehicles. The company also confirmed that the inspection and repairs will be conducted free of cost. Customers can check if their model is part of the recall by entering the chassis number (MA3 followed by 14 digit alpha-numeric number) at the company’s official website. The chassis number is embossed on the vehicle ID plate and is also in the vehicle invoice / registration documents.
Apart from the Ciaz, Maruti initiated several recalls involving 1,03,311 units of the Swift, DZire and Ertiga earlier this year for faulty fuel filler neck; while 69,555 units of the Swift, DZire and Ritz models were recalled in September to repair the wiring harness fitment. Customers can also get in touch with their respective dealers to know more about the recall issue. The company has not provided the amount of time that will be taken for the inspection and repairs on the affected units.
