2025 Toyota Camry launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 48 lakhs (ex-showroom). This latest iteration of Toyota’s premium sedan, available exclusively in a fully loaded trim, maintains its focus on a fuel-efficient petrol-hybrid powertrain while bringing several updates in design, features and safety technologies. Deliveries of the new model are set to commence immediately.
Price Comparison and Market Positioning
The new Camry is priced Rs. 1.83 lakhs higher than its predecessor, which was available at Rs. 46.17 lakhs (ex-showroom). Despite the price hike, it remains competitive within its segment, undercutting its key rival, the Skoda Superb, which is priced at Rs. 54 lakhs. The Camry also serves as a more affordable alternative to premium sedans like the Audi A4 (starting at Rs. 46.02 lakhs), Mercedes-Benz C-Class (starting at Rs. 54.40 lakhs) and BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine (starting at Rs. 60.60 lakhs).
Exterior Design and Platform
Built on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, the ninth-generation Camry adopts the brand’s “Hammerhead” design language. Notable exterior updates include a sharp nose, slim LED headlights with daytime running lights, and a re-positioned “T” logo on the grille. The bumper design, influenced by Lexus’s styling cues, features an anvil-like shape. The sedan also showcases a bold character line, redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels and C-shaped LED tail lamps.
Toyota offers the new Camry in six exterior colours: Precious Metal, Dark Blue, Cement Grey, Emotional Red, Attitude Black and Platinum White Pearl.
Interior and Technology Upgrades
Inside, the Camry features a revamped dashboard design highlighted by dual 12.3-inch displays—one for the digital instrument cluster and another for infotainment duties. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additional technology highlights include a nine-speaker JBL sound system, a 10-inch head-up display and digital key functionality.
Rear-seat passengers benefit from reclining seats with a dedicated centre console, while the front seats are ventilated and offer 10-way power adjustability. Comfort is further enhanced with three-zone automatic climate control and a sunroof equipped with a retractable sunshade.
Safety Features
The new Camry comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, the brand’s suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Key features include pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, radar-based cruise control, lane-tracing assist, road-sign recognition and automatic high beams. Additional safety equipment includes nine airbags, parking sensors at the front and rear and a 360-degree camera.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the hood, the new Camry is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine paired with Toyota’s fifth-generation Hybrid System (THS 5). The combined output is 230 HP, a 12 HP increase over the previous model. Fuel efficiency has also been improved, with an ARAI-rated 25.49 km/l. Power is transmitted via an eCVT gearbox.
Battery and Assembly
Toyota offers an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty on the hybrid battery pack, reinforcing its commitment to the hybrid technology. The new Camry continues to be assembled at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka, following the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route, a practice in place since the seventh-generation model’s introduction to India in 2013.
With its blend of updated features, advanced safety systems and improved hybrid powertrain, the ninth-generation Toyota Camry aims to solidify its position as a premium yet frugal sedan in the Indian market.
