Maruti Suzuki has forayed into the country’s robust EV market with its production-ready e Vitara, which has been showcased at Auto Expo 2025.
Amidst the exciting EV launches, Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the e Vitara in the coming months to compete with models like the Creta EV, Curvv EV and the BE 6. The e Vitara is Maruti Suzuki’s first car equipped with ADAS ( level 2 ). It also offers a range of features, including wireless charging, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, hill descent control, multiple drive modes ( Eco | Normal | Sport ), 7 airbags, 60+ Advanced Telematic Features and a 360-degree camera.
Production will begin in coming months in Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, from where the e Vitara will be exported to over 100 countries including Japan and Europe. Investments of over 2,100 crores will be made for the manufacturing of e Vitara. Maruti Suzuki will be the exclusive manufacturer.
The car is built on Maruti’s new Heartect-e platform, specifically designed for EVs. It offers two battery pack options: a 49 kWh unit and a 61 kWh unit, with the larger battery pack is expected to deliver over 500 kms on a single charge. The specifications are as follows:

The electric powertrain consists of a 3-in-1 e Axle & ESU. Fast charging is supported in top 100 cities and there will be a dedicated mobile app. The car will have Infinity Premium Sound System by Harman, ventilated front seats, leatherette bucket seats and a 10-Way Powered driver seat. The rear seats offer 40:20:40 split with sliding and reclining functionality.
The e Vitara features a 2-spoke steering wheel and offers a dual-tone interior option. It has all-disc brakes with twin piston callipers in the front. The car features the all-new Front Cradle type Suspension Frame with Rear Multi-Link Suspension.
It is the shortest in length compared to its competitors. However, it features the longest wheelbase, second only to the BE 6.

The expected price of the e Vitara is Rs. 17-25 Lakh, and the car is expected to go on sale in March 2025.
