2025 KTM 1390 Super Adventure S Evo gets AMT with manual & auto modes
KTM 1390 Super Adventure S Evo officially revealed, the latest addition to its adventure touring lineup, just ahead of the 2024 EICMA show. This new model takes over the flagship position in KTM’s road-focused ADV range, boasting a more powerful engine, advanced electronics and the introduction of an automated manual transmission (AMT). The bike represents a significant step forward in both performance and technology for the Austrian manufacturer.
New 1350cc V-Twin Engine with VVT
At the heart of the 1390 Super Adventure S Evo is a liquid-cooled, 1350cc V-twin engine, derived from the KTM Super Duke R. Tuned for adventure touring, this engine produces 173 HP and 145 Nm of torque, making it one of the most powerful adventure bikes in the market. It also features Variable Valve Timing, which enhances both low-end torque for better drivability and high-end performance for spirited riding.
Debut of the AMT Gearbox
One of the standout innovations on the 1390 Super Adventure S Evo is the introduction of KTM’s AMT gearbox. This automated manual transmission allows for fully automatic gear shifts, eliminating the need for the rider to shift manually. However, for riders who prefer more control, the system can also be operated manually via paddle shifters located on the left-hand switchgear. This combination provides a versatile riding experience, suited for both relaxed touring and more aggressive riding.
Updated Chassis and Suspension
To accommodate the larger engine, KTM has revised the frame of the 1390 Super Adventure S Evo. The frame is stiffer than its predecessor, enhancing stability and handling. The bike continues to use the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast alloy wheels from the 1290 Super Adventure, paired with Brembo brakes for high stopping power.
The Evo version also features the latest generation of WP’s semi-active suspension, which adjusts damping and preload electronically based on road conditions and rider preferences. This makes the bike suitable for both paved roads and light off-road use, while maintaining comfort and performance in a variety of scenarios.
Advanced Electronics and Rider Aids
The 1390 Super Adventure S Evo comes loaded with a full suite of electronics, which KTM has continued to refine. In addition to standard features like multiple riding modes, traction control, quickshifter and cornering ABS, the bike also includes radar-assisted rider aids. These include adaptive cruise control, front collision warning and brake assistance. The integration of the AMT and these rider aids allows the bike to autonomously come to a stop if it detects an obstacle ahead, a feature rarely seen in motorcycles.
All these systems are managed through KTM’s new 8.8-inch touchscreen TFT display, which is one of the largest dashboards available on any production motorcycle today. This display offers easy navigation of settings and provides real-time data for the rider.
Availability and Future Prospects
The KTM 1390 Super Adventure S Evo is set to make its full public debut at EICMA 2024 and will be available internationally by early 2025. However, KTM has not yet confirmed whether this model will make its way to the Indian market, where the brand has a strong following in the adventure touring segment. Given the bike’s positioning as a top-tier model, its arrival in India remains uncertain but possible, especially if there is demand for high-performance ADVs.
