2025 Audi Q5 Revealed, India Bound

2025 Audi Q5 gets redesigned with sleeker styling and all-new interior

Audi has officially unveiled the third-generation Q5, introducing several significant upgrades, including a brand-new platform and enhanced features. The new Q5 is the first model to be built on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), which is compatible with mild-hybrid technology, now standard across all engine options.

Exterior and Interior Design

The exterior design of the new Q5 showcases Audi’s latest design language, featuring a slightly smaller grille, flanked by slimmer Matrix LED headlights. The redesigned front bumper and connected LED tail lamps further enhance the SUV’s modern appeal. A dual-tone rear bumper adds a sportier touch.

Inside, the Q5 shares much of its cabin design with the India-bound Q6 e-tron. The highlight is the inclusion of Audi’s new MMI panoramic display, consisting of an 11.9-inch digital driver’s display and a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. An optional 10.9-inch display is available for the front passenger. The new Q5 also comes with a fresh three-spoke steering wheel, flat at both the top and bottom, adding a futuristic touch to the interior.

Powertrains and Specifications

Audi offers the new Q5 with three powertrain options. The entry-level version is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that generates 204 HP and 340 Nm of torque. This variant is available with either front-wheel drive or Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. There is also a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine option producing 204 HP and 400 Nm of torque, available exclusively with AWD.

For enthusiasts, the range-topping SQ5 is equipped with a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-petrol engine that delivers 367 HP and 550 Nm. All variants are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and a 48V mild-hybrid system, which adds an additional 24 HP and 230 Nm to the output. The mild-hybrid setup also allows the use of an electrically powered air conditioning compressor for improved efficiency.

Audi has announced that a plug-in hybrid variant with a larger battery and external charging capability will be introduced later in the model’s lifecycle.

Pricing and India Launch

In Germany, the pricing for the new Q5 starts at €52,300 (approximately Rs. 48.59 lakhs) for the base petrol variant, while the diesel starts at €57,100 (around Rs. 53.05 lakhs). The range-topping SQ5 is priced from €82,900 (roughly Rs. 77.02 lakhs). Sales are expected to begin in Europe later this month, with deliveries commencing in the first quarter of 2025.

For the Indian market, the new Q5 is anticipated to launch sometime next year, although Audi India has not confirmed an exact timeline. In India, the current-generation Q5 is priced between Rs. 65 lakhs and Rs. 72 lakhs and the new model is expected to maintain a similar competitive range, continuing to rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and Volvo XC60.
