2024 Volkswagen Tiguan revealed, gets fresh styling and more equipment
2024 Volkswagen Tiguan revealed with a new design, more features and a new plug-in hybrid engine option. The new generation model is confirmed for India launch, expected to hit the showrooms by next year.
The updated Tiguan gets a more curvy design compared to the outgoing model which had some boxy dimensions and straight lines. The new design will aid for better aerodynamics to improve the efficiency of the car.
It has got a slimmer set of headlights that merge with the front grille. The bumper on this sporty variant has a huge black panel with chrome elements. The side profile reveals the curvy elements of the design and new fancy 20-inch alloy wheels. The rear profile gets a neatly designed tail light cluster that is integrated into a black panel running across the tailgate. Some say, the tail lights look very similar to the Maruti Grand Vitara.
The interior is completely new, gets a layered dashboard with driver-focused panels. There is a huge 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The digital cockpit gets a high-res display, sitting behind a very familiar looking steering wheel (Taigun). There is a new heads-up display as well. The gear selector is integrated on the steering column. This layout frees up space in the centre console. The boot space of the car has increased by 37 litres to 652 litres.
Some of the new high-end features include pneumatic massage function for the front seats, IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, new adaptive chassis control DCC Pro and latest Park Assist.
Volkswagen hasn’t revealed the specs officially but they say the new gen VW Tiguan will be offered in multiple engine options, depending on the market – turbo diesel engines (TDI), turbo gasoline engines (TSI), mild hybrid turbo gasoline engines (eTSI) and plug-in hybrid systems (eHybrid).
The new Tiguan will be available with Side Assist (lane change system), Front Assist (Autonomous Emergency Braking), Lane Assist (lane keeping system) and Rear View (rear view camera system), these also include Dynamic Road Sign Display.
Optional equipment includes Park Assist Pro with remote parking capability (via smartphone) and Trailer Assist (for assisted manoeuvring with a trailer).
We expect Volkswagen India to introduce the new gen Tiguan with petrol engine options by early next year. Skoda is also preparing to reveal the new gen Kodiaq and Superb soon. The new models will get similar equipment and engine options like the Tiguan.
