2024 Toyota Vellfire unofficial bookings open in India

A select number of Toyota dealerships across various Indian cities have quietly commenced unofficial bookings for the 2024 Toyota Vellfire MPV. The second-generation Vellfire recently unveiled globally is set to make its way to the Indian market in the coming months, with deliveries expected to commence around late September 2023.

With stocks of the outgoing Vellfire almost depleted, customers who had previously made bookings for the previous model are now being encouraged to upgrade to the new Vellfire. The unofficial booking amounts range from Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs. 5 lakhs, depending on the specific dealership.

Although the styling retains its distinctive Vellfire essence, the latest iteration is slightly longer and features rounded edges, a redesigned glasshouse and additional chrome details.

Inside the cabin, the new Vellfire showcases a minimalist dashboard with fewer physical buttons. Most vehicle functions have been integrated into a large touchscreen positioned at the centre. It comes with a large overhead console, passengers can control various vehicle functions, multiple AC vents and newly designed pull-down sunshades.

The Executive Lounge package includes two individual captain chairs for the second row with retractable tables and heated/ventilated seating. Additionally, a detachable control panel enables passengers to adjust media and climate settings, while the sunroof incorporates independently openable right- and left-side shades.

In terms of powertrain options, the new Vellfire will offer two choices. The first is a turbocharged 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine generating 275 HP and 430 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT gearbox. The second option is a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol-hybrid, delivering a combined power output of 250 HP, paired with an e-CVT transmission. The Indian market will likely receive the 2.5-litre petrol hybrid variant.

Although several dealers claim to have received confirmations for the new MPV, Toyota is yet to make an official announcement regarding the vehicle’s availability in the country.
