The updated compact SUV gets redesigned exterior which follows Tata Motors latest design direction. It is inspired by the Curvv concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo this year.
The front profile gets a sharp and aggressive styling with LED DRLs on top and headlamps on the lower-half. The grille is new and so are the bumpers. The tail lights have also been redesigned for a sharper look. There are 6 colours on offer – purple, blue, grey, dark grey, white and red. The EV gets a slightly different styling to differentiate the two versions.
Interior of the new Nexon also gets an updated design with a revised dashboard, new floating touchscreen infotainment system, new all-digital instrument cluster and the new steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo.
It is powered by the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol produces 120 HP and 170 Nm of torque. It is available with 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 115 HP and 160 Nm torque, mated to a 6-speed MT or AMT gearbox options.
The Nexon.ev is available with Medium Range and Long Range variants. The electric powertrain in the Medium Range produces 129 HP and 215 Nm torque and in the Long Range version it produces 142 HP and 215 Nm of torque. Shockingly the power output remains unchanged and the torque is down by 30 Nm and 38 Nm respectively.
Medium Range gets a 30kWh battery while the Long Range gets a 40.5kWh battery pack. They offer an ARAI claimed range of 325 km and 465 km respectively. Compared to the outgoing Nexon EV, the range has gone up by 12 km.
The Tata Nexon continues to fight with the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300 and the likes in the compact SUV segment.
