New gen Skoda Superb to make India debut in the next few months
Fourth generation Skoda Superb has been revealed by the Czech brand. It comes with a new exterior design, new interior, more features and a new plug-in hybrid engine option.
The new generation Skoda Superb looks like a bigger version of the Slavia with the latest design language, which is a good thing because it looks sharp and more sophisticated. The front profile gets a new grille, sharp headlight cluster with LED Matrix beam tech and redesigned bumper.
From the side profile you will notice the sedan is now bigger than the outgoing version to offer more cabin space and boot space. It is even more aerodynamic. There are no cuts and creases on the side profile, just a strong shoulder line that runs across. You will get new alloy wheel designs depending on variant to variant. It gets up to 19-inch wheels.
Skoda revealed the interior a few months back. It looks more premium with the layered design of different materials. There is a 10-inch Virtual Cockpit behind the steering wheel and a 13-inch free-standing touchscreen display for the infotainment system. Skoda has repositioned the gear selector to the steering column to make space in the centre console. It also comes with Smart Dials that get small digital display for multiple functions to make the dashboard look cleaner with minimal buttons.
In the international market, the new Skoda Superb will be powered by a range of petrol and diesel engine options including 1.5-litre TSI, 2.0-litre TSI and 2.0-litre TDI. There is a new 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid powertrain as well that comes with an electric-only range of 100 km. Of course in India we won’t get the diesel engine option, most likely to come with the 2.0-litre TSI unit.
