2024 Renault Duster looks more rugged with the new design language
2024 Renault Duster revealed, it is introduced as Dacia Duster for some international markets. After skipping the second generation model, the Indian market will get this third generation Duster. It will be produced locally for the domestic as well as export markets, making India a production hub for the new generation SUV.
The new Duster was leaked yesterday and the patent images too revealed the production design so there are no surprises here. It looks fresh and rugged with the latest design direction of the French carmaker. There are some X-shaped design elements across the exterior and interior of the new Duster.
The front profile gets sleek new headlights with LED DRLs that merge well with the new grille offering a continuity look with the grille detailing. There is a new muscular bumper design with integrated fog lamps. You get black cladding across the lower-half of the body to accentuate the rugged visual appeal of the car.
From the side profile you will notice ample ground clearance of 217 mm, new diamond cut alloy wheels and pillar-integrated door handles for rear doors. The rear has an imposing stance as well thanks to the sharp LED lights, funky spoiler and brawny bumper design. There are some bronze accents as well on the ORVM, Dacia logo, etc.
The interior gets an all-black treatment with silver contrast elements. There is nothing fancy and premium inside, the dashboard looks rather basic. Gets a new three-spoke steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, driver tilted centre console with a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, new Porsche inspired automatic gear selector, mobile holder on the dash, etc. The boot looks quite accommodating and the rear seats get 60:40 split.
Engine options include a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit generating 118 BHP, 1.2-litre petrol hybrid with 138 BHP and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol flex-fuel engine with a peak output of 168 BHP. There won’t be any diesel engine on offer.
It will be offered with 4×4 Terrain Control transmission that offers 5 modes – Auto, Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-Road and Eco.
India launch is expected by Diwali 2025 and it will compete with the likes of Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, MG Astor and the likes. Renault is also preparing to launch a bigger 7-seater version of the same.
