Mercedes GLA facelift & AMG GLE 53 Coupe facelift launched
Mercedes has launched two new updated models in India – the Mercedes GLA facelift, which is priced from Rs. 50.50 lakhs (ex-showroom) and Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe facelift, which is priced at Rs. 2.25 crores (ex-showroom). Have a look at the complete price table of the GLA below.
The Mercedes GLA is available in three trims – GLA 200, GLA 220d 4MATIC and GLA 220d 4MATIC AMG Line. The exterior gets a new Spectral Blue. Styling changes include new headlights with revised LED detailing, new detailing on the tail lights, new bumpers and new alloy wheels on offer.
The interior too gets minimal changes like steering wheel with touch-based controls, carbon fibre inserts and updated centre console with new buttons and more space on offer.
Continues to get the dual 10.25-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system. There is a new 360 degree camera and the updated MBUX UI now comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Some of the other highlights include dual-pane sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, powered front seats with memory function, wireless smartphone charger, dual-zone climate control, gesture-controlled tailgate and new digital key.
It continues to be powered by the same engine options. 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol unit producing 163 HP and 270 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels. Then there is the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit producing 190 HP and 400 Nm torque, mated to an 8-speed DCT gearbox. The diesel engine is available with 4Matic all-wheel drive system as standard.
Safety features include 7 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto emergency braking, auto high beam assist, blind spot monitor and hill descent control.
The Mercedes GLA will compete against the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40 in the Indian market.
The Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe has also been given a facelift which gets mild changes compared to the outgoing model. It comes with revised headlights and tail lights along with new bumpers on offer and new alloy wheels, which is usually the case with German luxury car’s facelifts.
The interior of the performance SUV remains more or less the same. The upholstery and the materials get slight changes. Some of the new highlights include customisable head-up display, additional control buttons on the steering wheel along with heated and ventilated lumbar supported front seats. Safety features include 9 airbags, blind spot assist, 360-degree cameras, ‘transparent bonnet’ feature and more.
It is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 435 HP and 560 Nm of torque, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission with 4Matic AWD system. Gets new 48V mild-hybrid system that adds 20 HP and 200 Nm torque when required. It does 0-100 km/hr in 5 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/hr.
