2024 Kia Carnival spotted, launch expected in India by April this year
2024 Kia Carnival spotted testing in India with heavy camouflage. The fourth generation model recently got its mid-cycle facelift in the international market and the same will be introduced in our country in the next few months.
Kia launched the Carnival in India for the first time in its third generation avatar in February 2020 at the Auto Expo. It was priced from Rs. 24.95 lakhs (ex-showroom) back then. Soon after its launch in India, Kia introduced the fourth generation model in the international market by September 2020. However, they had no plans to launch the fourth gen in India and instead focused on selling the third gen model.
Last year at the 2023 Auto Expo, Kia showcased the new fourth generation Carnival as a concept to the Indian audience and it gathered a lot of attention. Eventually they discontinued the third generation model by April 2023 and had no plans to introduce the new version for the rest of the year.
Now, finally the much awaited fourth generation Kia Carnival facelift has begun its local testing in India and we hope to see it in the showrooms by April. The heavily camouflaged test mules hide the design to a great extent but we can manage to make out the newly updated headlights with large LED DRLs and even the huge tail light cluster. The new gen’s overall silhouette looks more upright and SUVish compared to its predecessor.
The interior gets a premium look with a redesigned dashboard that gets a dual screen setup of 12.3-inch instrument cluster and infotainment system displays. Kia offers 7, 9 and 11 seater configurations in the international market. It is yet to be known what options will be available for India.
Kia offers the new carnival with multiple petrol and diesel engine options globally including 3.5-litre petrol, 1.6-litre petrol hybrid and 2.2-litre diesel engine options. We believe, India will continue to get the 2.2-litre diesel engine option.
There is currently no competition for the Kia Carnival in the Indian market. It is perfectly sandwiched between two segments – Toyota Innova HyCross and Toyota Vellfire.
