2024 BMW X2 gets a coupe SUV design
BMW has revealed the new generation X2 which shares its underpinnings with the X1. The new model gets a sharper coupe SUV design and is available in petrol, diesel and electric variants.
When it comes to styling, it looks very similar to the X1 from the front profile. However, it gets a new grille design and sportier bumper to differentiate with its sibling. From the side profile too, it doesn’t look any different until the B-pillar. Beyond the B-pillar you will notice the sloping roofline that merges well with the tail.
The rear profile looks completely different and doesn’t resemble any BMW in the lineup because of the unique tail lamps and aggressive new bumper integrating quad exhausts.
Coming to the interior of the new X2, it looks exactly the same as the X1. The BMW Curved Display, three-spoke steering wheel and the dashboard layout looks ditto. However, the interior colour tones are different to offer a more sporty visual appeal.
The BMW iX2 xDrive30 gets two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear. They together generate a system output of 230 kW/313 HP (including temporary boost) and 494 Nm torque. The iX2 xDrive30 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/hr in 5.6 seconds on the way to a top speed of 180 km/hr. It has a range of 417 – 449 km in the WLTP cycle.
Other engine options include 241 HP 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine in the xDrive28i, 312 HP 2.0-litre unit in the range topping model and a 2.0-litre diesel engine option.
The first gen X2 was not available in the Indian market but we believe BMW might introduce the new gen X2 sometime in India by next year. What are your thoughts on the coupe SUV design? Let us know in the comments below.
