2023 Mercedes E-Class spied wearing heavy camouflage, global debut later next year
2023 Mercedes E-Class spied for the first time, to follow daddy’s (S-Class) footsteps. This will be the sixth generation (W214) model of the E-Class. The W213 currently on sale was introduced in 2016.
While the test mule spotted here is heavily camouflaged, we can make out some new visual changes and features of the sedan from these spy shots.
At the first glance the sedan looks more aerodynamic having a curved out front profile including the reworked front fenders and hunkered down bonnet. Although this is a dummy grille but we expect to see a relatively larger grille in the new E.
The S-Class inspired flush door handles can be seen here that will pop out when the car is unlocked.
The rear profile too looks a lot more curvy than before with a sleek set of tail lamps. Notice the fog lamps on the boot lid, it might get a wraparound look for the tail lights extending into the boot section.
Another thing to notice here is the roof which is devoid of any camouflage, which means it will get a full size panoramic roof.
The party trick of the Mercedes S-Class, which is the rear-wheel steering system, will be trickled down to the next gen E-Class. The mid-size luxury sedan will be one of the first cars in its segment to get this premium feature.
You can notice the rear wheels moving in the opposite direction in these spy shots when the car is making a turn, this confirms the presence of this feature in the new model. However, it might be offered as an optional equipment.
The W214 Mercedes E-Class will compete with its long time rivals including BMW 5-Series, Audi A6, Jaguar XF and the likes. While its world premiere is expected later in 2022, expect the luxury sedan to hit the Indian shores by 2023 in its LWB guise like the current gen on sale.
