2023 Mahindra Scorpio Classic Spied, Gets Scorpio-N’s Grille

The test mule sports what looks like Scorpio-N’ grille at the front

2023 Mahindra Scorpio Classic might get latest Scorpio-N’s grille among other subtle changes, launch soon

2023 Mahindra Scorpio Classic test mule has been spotted at the Mahindra Research Valley, Chengalpattu, and, from the looks, we can make out that the upcoming SUV has got subtle changes on the outside.

During the unveil of the Scorpio-N on 20th May, Mahindra informed that it will continue selling the existing first generation Scorpio as Scorpio Classic.

Now, it seems, the company is readying the SUV with a facelift at the company’s R&D centre for a launch soon. Rumours even floated that the car will stripped off some crucial features to make way for the Scorpio-N.

The upcoming Scorpio Classic’s design is based on the first generation model’s third facelift that went on sale in 2014. Looking at the test mule, the noticeable change is the removal of the signature mesh grille with vertical slats.

In its place, Mahindra has plonked in the upcoming Scorpio-N’s overlapping checked grille that has thin chrome vertical slats on angled horizonal strips. There might also be changes to the bottom grille which seems to be exposing the radiator more.

The test mule has fully camouflaged front bumper and side claddings meaning there might subtle changes. But what ever be the change, it would be more of a downgrade than an upgrade to pave way for the Scorpio-N.

On the inside, the upcoming Scorpio Classic is expected to be stripped off some high-end features like the intelligent 1-touch lane change, cruise control, connected features in infotainment system, etc. But nothing has been confirmed yet.

The upcoming Scorpio Classic is expected to get the same powertrains

The Scorpio Classic, however, will continue to get the same powertrains as the existing model.

It will sport the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine in 2 states of tune – 119 HP and 280 Nm mated to a 5-speed gearbox for the base variants, and 137 HP and 319 Nm mated to a 6-speed transmission for the top-spec variants.

The car will be available in 5 trims – S3 Plus, S5, S7, S9, and S11 with prices starting from Rs. 13.54 lakhs for the base S3 Plus variants and going up to Rs. 18.62 lakhs for the the top-end S11 variant, all prices, ex-showroom.

The upcoming Scorpio Classic is expected to be launched along with the Scorpio-N on 27th June in line with the 20th anniversary of the car.
