The 2023 Mahindra Scorpio gets a host of features that are first for it, unofficial bookings have already opened
Select Mahindra dealerships have commenced the unofficial bookings for the 2023 Mahindra Scorpio ahead of its launch. Booking amount could be around Rs. 50,000/-.
For so long, the Mahindra Scorpio concentrated more on being an utilitarian vehicle rather than being a modern SUV that had creature comfort features. But, that is set to change with the upcoming 2023 iteration of the SUV.
Mahindra has loaded the upcoming Scorpio with many features that were never-seen-before on the popular SUV. For starters, as per latest scoops, Mahindra has turned its focus more on the 4-wheel drive system. For the first time, select petrol engine variants of the Scorpio are going to get the 4-wheel drive system from the Thar.
As per various spy shots, the upcoming Scorpio is slated to get dual-zone automatic climate control for the first time. It helps regulate temperature between the front and rear portion of the cabin using the front and rear AC vents.
The D-segment SUV is going to get sunroof as well. The luxury feature will enable it to get a bright and cool ambiance for a refreshing drive. Sunroof is also one of the most sought after features by children. But, it will be regular sized single-pane unit and not a full-fledged panoramic unit.
In another first, the upcoming Scorpio gets a nearly 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system with connected tech that allows users to control various aspects of the SUV from their mobile phones and smart watches. The system will also show various telematics.
Like Tata which has introduced a full-blast Harman sound system on the Harrier, Mahindra may give an equally good Sony sound system with roof-mounted speakers for an immersive audio experience. The XUV 700 currently offers the same unit and has been lauded for its performance.
In addition to the infotainment system, the upcoming Scorpio will feature a new semi-digital instrument cluster with colour display and it could be the same 7-inch unit seen on the XUV 700 that displays a host of information.
A 360 degree camera system is also expected to make its way on to the Scorpio for offering various drive assist systems. It will help in parking at tight spaces.
In addition, to all these new features, the Scorpio will carry forward its existing stronghold aspects like huge dimensions, plush suspension, large comfortable seats (captain seats), and reliable engines.
The SUV will reportedly come powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine with both manual and automatic transmission options. The diesel engine, might get 2 states of tune with the lowered powered 1 finding its place on the base variants.
The petrol engine might be the mStallion 150 TGDi unit that puts out 150 HP at 5000 RPM and 300 Nm between 1250-3000 RPM.
The diesel engine, however, might be the tried and tested mHawk 130 that exerts 130 HP at 3750 RPM and 300 Nm between 1600-2800 RPM. The mHawk is expected to put out the XUV 700’s numbers for the top-end models.
