New Gen Hyundai Verna’s Road Tests Carry On

The sedan looks to have grown a bit for the newest generation

The 2023 Hyundai Verna was spotted in South Korea

Hyundai has been rather studiously developing the 2023 Verna which was spotted yet again in Korea. But, the C-segment sedan sports heavy camouflaging.

It is a given that the next-generation Verna will come with updated styling. The ‘face’ of the car seems lowered and the radiator grille up front is new, as are the headlights.

Along the sides, one can see that the greenhouse’s frame retains the same shape as the current model’s window frame, but there is an additional element which seems to be in place to deflect or guide the air next to the rear window.

The car will adopt Hyundai’s latest design language

What’s more, the car has a ‘fastback’ style rear section, fresh tail lights, which appear to be split and a new bumper. And yes, the alloy wheels are brand-new as well.

Like the exterior, the interior of the recently spotted 2023 Hyundai Verna would have undergone an overhaul as well. But, these images do not reveal the cabin styling of the sedan just yet.

Hyundai is known for cramming its cars with features and the Verna should be no different. But, the current model’s engine – 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre turbodiesel – and transmission options are expected to be carried forward.

It looks larger than its predecessor

The engines might receive some form of electrical assistance to boost their efficiency and thereby reduce emissions, helping the car meet the upcoming emissions regulations.

While the global debut of the sedan is likely to take place later this year, the launch of the car in India should happen sometime in 2023. It will rival the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Skoda Slavia and the (soon-to-be launched) Volkswagen Virtus.
