2023 Hyundai Verna production to commence next month
2023 Hyundai Verna has got a green signal in India and the production is all set to commence in March. It will make its global debut in the next couple of months.
The next generation Hyundai Verna will be exported to other countries as well. In fact, major chunk of the production will be earmarked for exports.
The carmaker plans to ramp up the production of the sedan to 70,000 units a year. Hyundai stopped the production of their vehicles at the St Petersburg plant in Russia due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Now, India will serve as a major export hub for the sedan for export markets including Middle East and Latin America among others.
The styling of the new generation Verna will be inspired by the new Elantra. It is expected to offer more space inside and a revamped interior with dual screens and all the latest tech you could expect from Hyundai.
There will be some changes in the engine options. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will continue to do its duty. There will be a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that will replace the smaller 1.0-litre turbo petrol.
Reports say that it won’t come with any diesel engine option due to the updated RDE norms. However, we believe Hyundai has made their diesel engine RDE compliant and it will continue to be offered with the new generation car as well.
While the production will commence next month, we believe the launch is expected to happen by mid-2023. It will compete with the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and Maruti Ciaz.
