Next Gen Hyundai Verna To Continue Offering Diesel Engine Option

Rendering based on the new design language of Hyundai

2023 Hyundai Verna to come with both petrol and diesel engine options

2023 Hyundai Verna confirmed to get a diesel powertrain. The South Korean carmaker is working to meet the upcoming stricter emissions norms – Real Driving Emission (RDE) norms in 2023.

The next generation Hyundai Verna will be the only C-segment sedan in India to offer a diesel engine option. Most of the carmakers are planning to discontinue their diesel engine variants as they won’t upgrade their oil burners to meet the updated requirements.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine will continue to be offered in the Venue, Creta and Alcazar along with the Verna. Honda will discontinue the City and Amaze diesel ahead of the April 2023 RDE deadline.

The new gen Verna has been spotted testing multiple times in the country wearing heavy camouflage. We believe it will get the new design DNA inspired by the new gen Elantra as you can see here in these renderings. It will get some sharp styling elements and a huge grille up front.

Expect the revamped interior to offer more cabin room and a longer list of features. It might also come with the ADAS tech to lure buyers in India.

Along with the 1.5-litre diesel engine, it will retain the 1.5-litre petrol engine as well and Hyundai might offer the 1.4-litre turbo petrol unit to rub its shoulders against the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia in the C-segment space.

It will have some sharp styling cues like the new Elantra
