2022 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift spotted undisguised at a dealership.
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan has been spotted ahead of its launch tomorrow by MotorBeamer Aniruddha Gurjar. The updated SUV comes with a host of visual changes along with new interior details and more features on offer.
The front profile gets a new set of sleek headlights with LED projectors and a new three-slat grille design. The revised bumper looks sharper and makes the fascia look relatively fresh.
The side profile will get no changes apart from the new set of 18-inch alloy wheels. There are only two changes at the rear – new bumper and dark red LED tail lights.
The updated SUV will be assembled locally in India at the company’s plant in Aurangabad. It is based on the same MQB architecture.
The interior will get a host of changes including a new steering wheel, new all-digital instrument cluster, larger touchscreen infotainment system, 3-zone climate control system, updated leatherette upholstery, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, etc.
The VW Tiguan was first launched in India in 2017 with a starting price of Rs. 27.98 lakhs (ex-showroom). It was only available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine back then. Now, the facelifted model will offered with a single 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine option producing 190 PS and 320 Nm of torque.
This engine will be mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission and will come with all-wheel drive as standard.
The safety features of the car will include 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, ASR, EDL, TPMS, driver alert system, auto-hold, hill start assist, hill descent control, ISOFIX mounts, etc.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan will compete with the Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass. Expected to be priced around Rs. 28 lakhs (ex-showroom).
