The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan assembly has commenced just under 2 weeks before it’s market launch takes place
Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has commenced local assembly of the 2022 Tiguan today. The premium SUV will be launched in the market on 7th December, 2021.
Underpinned by the German auto major’s MQB platform, the SUV is assembled at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) plant in Aurangabad.
The 5-seat SUV which was revealed earlier this year features a new radiator grille, LED headlamps and DRLs, restyled “Dark Red” LED taillights, redesigned bumpers and 18-inch Frankfurt alloy wheels on the outside.
Stepping inside, one can see the car equipped with a digital instrument cluster, large touchscreen, Vienna leather seats, 3-zone air-con with touch and slide controls, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, sliding rear bench, among other things.
Powering the 2022 Tiguan will be a 2.0-litre TSI motor tuned to produce 190 PS and 320 Nm of torque. It will be teamed to a 7-speed DSG (with steering wheel paddle shifters), while the drive will be sent to all 4 wheels.
This CKD vehicle will also be equipped with the latest safety features including 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, ASR, EDL, TPMS, driver alert system, auto-hold, hill start assist, hill descent control and ISOFIX mounts.
By putting the facelifted Tiguan on sale next month, Volkswagen will fulfill its commitment of launching 4 new SUVs in India before the end of 2021.
With the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan assembly having commenced, prospective customers can register their interest for the car across the brand’s dealerships and through its website.
