Volkswagen has decided to carry forward the current powertrain options for the 2022 T-Roc
Volkswagen has given the T-Roc compact SUV a facelift for model year 2022 to keep the global model looking fresh.
The facelift has been applied for the entire T-Roc lineup which comprises the regular model, Cabriolet and the performance-oriented ‘R’.
Externally, the 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc has new LED headlights, a restyled radiator grille and bumper, along with vertically placed fog lamps, up front.
Models with higher specification that feature the optional matrix LED headlights sport a light bar that stretches across the grille.
In the back, the facelifted T-Roc has revised tail lamps that are tinted and look sharper, and in addition, there is a new bumper as well. The global model also comes with new wheels measuring between 16 and 19 inches.
On the inside, the 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc has the same steering wheel as the new generation Golf, a more premium dashboard featuring soft-touch material, a 8-inch digital instrument cluster, and an infotainment touchscreen that is available in varying sizes (6.5, 8 and 9.2 inches).
While the same changes pretty much apply to the Cabriolet model, the ‘R’ has a more aggressive demeanour thanks to black headlights, silver ORVM caps, rear spoiler, 18-inch Jerez alloys and sportier bumpers. It also comes with an Akrapovic exhaust and an interior with body colour trim and different seat upholstery.
Although the premium compact SUV does come with all the bells and whistles one would expect, Volkswagen has chosen to equip it with the IQ.Drive Travel Assist system as well.
This technology includes predictive cruise control, front assist and lane assist systems, which are claimed to have been improved.
One aspect of the car that the German auto major has not bothered to tinker with is the powertrain. Globally, the compact SUV will continue to be offered with 110 PS 1.0-litre, 150 PS 1.5-litre (both front-wheel drive) and 190 PS 2.0-litre (all-wheel drive) turbo-petrol engine options.
There are a pair of diesel engines on offer too. Both are 4-cylinder blocks with 2-litre capacity and produce 115 PS (front-wheel drive) and 150 PS (all-wheel drive).
Then, there is the 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc R that has a turbocharged 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol motor tuned to produce a maximum of 296 HP and 400 Nm of torque.
When the facelifted T-Roc arrives in India, it should continue to be powered by the 1.5-litre TSI unit producing 150 PS and 250 torques. The transmission would be a 7-speed DSG.
