The 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 has a 150 PS, 1160cc motor
Triumph Motorcycles has revealed its Tiger 1200, an all-new 2022 model that the brand says has been designed to be world’s most capable, and agile, large capacity adventure motorcycle.
The Tiger 1200 family comprises the GT and Rally range. There are 3 GT models – GT, GT Pro (both 20-litre fuel tank) and GT Explorer (30-litre tank) – all of which come with 19-inch front and 18-inch rear cast aluminium wheels.
Whereas the Rally series consists of Rally Pro (20-litre tank) and Rally Explorer (30-litre tank) models and each have 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tubeless wire-spoked wheels.
Triumph says the Tiger 1200 has a new lightweight frame with bolt-on aluminium subframe and pillion hangers and a tri-link swingarm and to go with all the changes, the motorcycle also has a new look.
It features a more upright stance, visually lighter front end, slimmer waist, clean lines, twin radiator design and minimal bodywork. Of course, the GT family has a more road biased style, while the Rally range has the attitude of a large capacity off-roader.
Also new are the rider ergonomics, and the big Tiger also comes with plentiful features including a 7-inch TFT screen with My Triumph Connectivity System, keyless go, Blind Spot Radar System (GT Explorer and Rally Explorer only) with Blind Spot Assist and Lane Change Assist, full-LED lights (with adaptive cornering lights), heated seats and grips, TPMS and hill hold.
Power comes from a 1160cc 3-cylinder motor that produces 150 PS at 9000 RPM and 130 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. The motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch (and shift assist) and the bike has shaft drive.
Featuring up to 6 ride modes and Optimised Cornering Traction Control, the 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 has Showa semi-active suspension and top-notch brakes from Brembo with optimised cornering ABS.
Weighing between 240 kg and 261 kg, the adventure bike comes with Metzeler Tourance tyres in GT form and Metzeler Karoo Street rubber in Rally form, an adjustable flyscreen, illuminated switches, USB port and protective parts like handguards, skid-guard, sump guard and more.
The motorcycle which has been priced from £14,600 (Rs. 14.62 lakhs) in the UK comes with 3 years unlimited mileage warranty (extendable) and a 16,000 km/12 months service interval. It will be available overseas from spring 2022.
