2022 racespec TVS Apache RR310 unveil marks TVS’ entry into international racing arena
TVS Racing today started a new chapter in its long-standing racing heritage with the unveil its new track tool for 2022, the Asia One-Make-Spec TVS Apache RR310, which is a big step up from the company’s existing racespec track tool, the TVS Apache GP 165R.
Inspired from the TVS’ stock Apache RR310, this new racing machine is powered by a 312 cc DOHC 4-value liquid-cum-oil-cooled single cylinder engine that exerts a maxium power of 46 HP which is 38 percent higher than the stock bike.
The engine uses titanium valves and forged pistons with major upgrades done to the cooling system as well to provide consistent performance on the race track. The electronics are handled by ARacer ECU which sports closed-loop control, quick shifter, launch control, and traction control.
TVS Racing has also introduced a functional ram air intake system for the first time that allows air inside at highest pressure to help achieve excellent volumetric efficiency.
The company says most of the body panels including wheels are made of carbon fibre. Infact, the entire tail section is made of carbon fibre which doubles up its role as a structural subframe.
The fairings are designed in such a way the bike has the lowest drag possible and TVS calls it ‘Low CDA’ design with the lessened unsprung mass minimising gyroscopic effect and enabling better handling characteristics on the track.
The wheels are slapped on with Dunlop soft-compound radial racing tyres that are claimed to offer maximum traction during acceleration and deceleration. The race bike gets a dedicated steering damper while Ohlins customised front and rear suspension is in the works. The twin exhaust system has been specially designed by TVS which helps getting a wider powerband.
The triple clamp and footpegs are made of high grade aluminium and the weight saved from all these measures is good 32 percent when compared to the stock bike which means this race machine weighs just 118 kg.
According to TVS, the pro-stock version of its Apache RR310 has already set a lap time of 1:50.432 on the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) and the new bike should easily do even better lap times. The platform has already won a race in the Malaysia Superbike Championship in 2020 and did a top-5 finish on the Asia Road Racing Championship the same year.
With this unveil, TVS has also launched its first-of-its-kind global one-make championship, TVS Asia One Make Championship and the season will start at Sepang Circuit with 4 races to go at different venues. A total of 16 talents will be picked up after stringent tests and top performers in the domestic one-make series will also be given a chance.
