The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT lapped the Nurburgring in 7:38:9, 4 seconds faster than Audi’s RS Q8
While some are still arguing that Porsche has no business making SUVs, the carmaker has revealed the 2022 Cayenne Turbo GT, its fastest utility vehicle to date.
Based on the coupe variant of the Cayenne, the new Turbo GT is the range-topping model that is powered by a 4.0-litre twin turbocharged V8 putting out 631 HP and 850 Nm of torque.
Porsche claims to have revised the engine’s crackshaft, turbos, induction and intercooler, while the exhaust system is a lighter and made of titanium. The engine is mated to an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.
Also, apart from revising the software for the all-wheel drive system for faster shift times, Porsche has also provided it with additional cooling.
The performance SUV completes the 0 to 100 km/hr run in 3.3 seconds and it can achieve a top speed just 3 km/hr shy of 300 km/hr.
To make it more dynamic to drive, Porsche has lowered the Cayenne Turbo GT by 17 mm, recalibrated the chassis and active control systems (like PASM, PDCC, etc) and fitted it with firmer (by 15 percent) air suspension.
What’s more, the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT has wheels shod with Pirelli rubber and speaking of wheels, the performance SUV’s front rims are an inch wider and have more negative camber to aid handling. Porsche also claims to have improved the brakes, reduced unsprung mass and has also revised the torque vectoring system.
Visually, the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT looks lightly different than the regular coupe thanks to a model-specific front end, more carbon-fibre parts (the roof is made of the stuff), 22-inch GT-design alloy wheels and revised rear profile with a new rear spoiler.
The same sporty theme is carried inside as Porsche has given the SUV sports seats with Alcantara trim and perforated panels, while to make the car easier to live with, the German brand has also updated the infotainment system.
Customers in the UK can take deliveries of the new Cayenne Turbo GT in Autumn by paying £143,910 (Rs. 1.48 crore), but before that, the car can be seen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (8th–11th July).
