The recently spied 2022 MG ZS EV had the same styling as the global model
The 2022 MG ZS EV facelift has been spied undisguised ahead of its launch later this month and, surprise surprise, it looks almost identical to the Astor compact SUV.
Why almost? Well, the front end of the electric vehicle (EV) is different with a blanked grille housing the charging port, while the bumper is also different, although the shape of the lower air intake looks the same.
Along the sides, one would be hard-pressed to spot the differences between the Astor and the recently spied 2022 MG ZS EV, save for the wheels of course. They look to be aero-optimised jobbies.
At the back, there is nothing to differentiate between the Astor and the refreshed ZS EV, which is no bad thing, for the car does get sleek tail lamps, small spoiler and a bumper with skid plates.
Inside, the EV will get the same dashboard as the Astor with new switchgear. The centre console, though will look different, featuring a rotary knob in the place of a traditional gear selector.
The 2022 ZS EV will come with a digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, 360-degree camera system, panoramic roof and, get this, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
MG is expected to offer the car with a larger 51 kWh battery pack instead of the current 44.5 kWh unit. This should result in the car featuring over 450 km of claimed range and an impressive real world figure.
However, the electric car’s power output of 143 PS and 353 torques could remain unchanged, unlike its sticker price that will go up given the usage of a larger Lithium-ion battery.
