Maruti Suzuki have launched the all-new second generation Celerio in the Indian market today. The vehicle is here to rival the likes of the Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago. The vehicle is based on the Heartect platform which is shared with a plethora of models from the automaker’s line-up.
The new Maruti Celerio looks very different from the outgoing model. While the previous generation had a rather clean design, the new one has some curvy styling elements, yet it looks unmistakably like a Maruti car.
The new Maruti Celerio is 3695 mm long (same as before), 1655 mm wide (55 mm wider) and 1555 mm tall (5 mm shorter). The wheelbase of the vehicle has grown to 2435 mm (10 mm longer) and the ground clearance has increased from 165 mm to 170 mm. The new Celerio has a boot capacity of 313-litres which is 78-litres more than before.
The 2022 Maruti Celerio is available with 7 variants on offer – LXi, VXi, VXi AMT, ZXi, ZXi AMT, ZXi+ and ZXi+ AMT. The vehicle gets features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist (AGS), reverse parking sensors, day-night IRVM, 60:40 split rear seat, power windows, electric ORVMs, SmartPlay infotainment system with 4 speakers, steering-mounted controls, tilt steering, rear defogger, rear wiper, push-button start, front fog lamps and height adjustable driver seat.
Under the hood of the 2022 Maruti Celerio is an updated version of the K10 petrol engine. This K10C, 1.0-litre, 3-cyl dual VVT engine puts out 67 HP and 89 Nm. This engine is offered with either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. The hatchback also gets an engine idle start-stop system. Maruti will also launch a CNG variant of the Celerio soon.
Talking about fuel efficiency, Maruti terms the Celerio as the most fuel-efficient petrol car in India. The VXi AGS variant has a claimed figure of 26.68 km/l while the ZXi AGS and ZXi+ AGS variants deliver 26 km/l. The ZXi+ MT trim delivers 24.97 km/l while LXi, VXi and ZXi MT trims have a claimed fuel efficiency of 25.24 km/l.
The new Maruti Celerio is offered with 6 colour options – Speedy Blue, Fire Red, Silky Silver, Glistening Grey, Caffeine Brown and Arctic White. Below are the ex-showroom prices of the hatchback –
