2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz Front
It looks mean when looked at head on

Hyundai has unveiled the 2022 Santa Cruz which it claims is a ‘Sport Adventure Vehicle’ unlike anything else in the US market.

The car has a bold front profile with the large grille flanked by signature DRLs and a sharp-looking bumper featuring the headlights, while along the sides, it has truncated rear doors and a short roof.

At the rear the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz comes with split tail lamps, an open bed area with a lockable tonneau cover, and a rugged bumper that houses the number plate and steps.

Overall, the Santa Cruz measures 4971 mm long, 1905 mm wide, 1694 mm tall and has a 3004 mm wheelbase with a bed length of 1323 mm.

Unlike the rugged exterior design of the vehicle that rides on 20-inch alloy wheels (18-inch wheels with larger tyre sidewalls are also available), the interior is subdued, but modern.

As standard, Hyundai offers an 8-inch touchscreen in the vehicle. But, a 10-inch digital instrument screen and a 10-inch touchscreen can also be had with the car which is also practical, even having rear under-seat storage.

Other features it comes with include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, a Digital Key, 8-speaker Bose Premium sound system, Blue Link Connected Car System, Remote Engine Start, and several more.

Powering the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz would be a 2.5-litre direct-injected 4-cylinder engine with 190 HP and 244 Nm of torque. This motor comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

A 2.5-litre turbocharged engine with 275 HP and 420 Nm that is mated to an 8-speed DCT (with steering-wheel-mounted paddles) will also be on offer.

Both models come with HTRAC all-wheel drive with active torque control and multiple modes. The towing ability of the Santa Cruz is rated between 1.8 to 2.2 tonnes depending upon the model chosen.

And there’s more. When it comes to safety and convenience features, the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz comes with a whole host of tech as part of the SmartSense feature suite.

These include Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), to name a few.

Production of the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz will begin in Montgomery, Alabama in June and the car will be available for sale in the USA this summer.
