Honda has come around to unveil the 2022 Honda HR-V in Europe and in Japan, today, and plans to first launch the compact SUV in its home market in the coming months.
Now in its third generation, the 2022 Honda HR-V e:HEV (also known as the Vezel in Japan), says Honda, has a coupe-inspired styling.
It is a very modern car with a mature, classy design and at the front, comes with a radiator grille with horizontal slats flanked by slimmer headlights with LED DRLs that are visually connected by a chrome strip.
At the sides, the car comes with a seemingly small window area, a set of neat-looking alloys (wheel size varies from 16 to 18 inches) and body cladding in the lower portion. Also, the rear door handles are situated above the beltline.
The rear section of the car has slimmer split tail lights with a full-width LED light bar, roof spoiler, wide windscreen, tailgate with distinctive creases and a neat little bumper with a skid plate that joins the diffuser.
Look inside, and there is a 9-inch touchscreen sitting atop the new dashboard which has the air vents stretching across its width. There are 3 rotating knobs for the air-con controls, a multi-function steering wheel and part-leather upholstery too.
A 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine with a CVT is offered in the 2-wheel-drive model and the same engine when paired with a self-charging hybrid system offers the car all-wheel-drive capabilities. European markets will get the HR-V with a 2-motor hybrid powertrain.
In the 2022 Honda HR-V unveil event, it was revealed that the crossover can be had with a powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, and a whole host of driver assistance features.
To be launched in April in Japan and later this year in Europe, the HR-V will be redesigned specifically for the North American market and will likely be launched there late this year or in early 2022. It is also expected to be launched in India in non-hybrid form next year.
