Patent images of the 2022 Honda HR-V have surfaced online even as the carmaker continues testing the compact SUV overseas.
The patent images clearly show us the design of the new-generation HR-V that is fresh and lends the car a premium look to the vehicle.
Upfront, the headlights are connected by a trim piece that will probably come finished in chrome, and below that sits the chrome-embellished radiator grille, which is not unlike the one on the MG Hector, although smaller in size.
The air dam is split by a trim piece that runs the entire width of the car and there are smaller lighting units that sit just above it.
Thankfully, there is no fake skid plate to be seen here, while, similarly, the bonnet too does not have a million creases, which is good.
Along the sides, while the 2022 Honda HR-V patent images show the vehicle without roof rails, development mules, however, had them.
A strong shoulder line runs from the headlight to the tail light, while the glass area, although seemingly small, is longer. Also note that the rear door handle is situated in-line with the rear window.
The wheel arches, to be fair the entire lower part of the compact SUV, sport plastic cladding, while the car does have a fair bit of overhang at the front and rear.
At the back, the 2022 HR-V does have a sizeable and heavily creased tailgate, split tail lamps that have nice detailing and a small bumper section that too has a trim piece running across the width of the car.
One thing, actually 2 things, not to like about the compact SUV are the ORVMs that look hideous. But, at least they sport blinkers.
It is expected to get launched in India next year, after hitting markets overseas first. When it does, it will rival the Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-Cross and the like.
