Patent images of the 2022 Honda Civic have surfaced online and the sedan looks like a downsized version of the latest generation Accord.
These images have come from IP Australia and the filing has been dated 19th May 2020. Let us take a closer look at the changes made to the next generation Civic in comparison with the current model.
Looking at the front, the headlights are new, so is the radiator grille, and the bumper. The latter features a larger air intake and a different housing for the fog lamps.
Moving to the sides, the large front overhang and bonnet is clearly seen. There is a shoulder line that runs from the front till the tail lights, while the glass house looks similar to the current gen model, save for the rear quarter glass.
At the back, the 2022 Honda Civic patent images show that the large C-shaped tail lights have given way to slimmer units that seem to be connected by a thin light strip. An integrated rear spoiler, new boot lid and a rather bland bumper completes the design changes.
One thing is for sure, the next generation Civic will not be polarising in design and will appeal to a broader set of buyers due to it not boasting too many styling elements.
Honda is expected to launch the new generation Civic by next year overseas, while the timeline for India launch is not known.
