The hatchback variant of the 2022 Honda Civic should offer more practicality
Honda has revealed the 2022 Civic Hatchback, a couple of months after it took the wraps off the new model’s sedan variant.
Scheduled to go on sale overseas this autumn, complete details about the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback will be announced come August.
Featuring a low and wide body, the new Civic Hatchback looks identical to the sedan variant until the rear doors. However, the boot lid has been redesigned to give the vehicle the looks of a coupe.
Also, there are revised tail lamps, a lip spoiler on the boot lid, while the twin exhaust finishers are different as well. From the rear, the car looks a lot wider than it actually is.
The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback will come with features such as LED headlights with Adaptive Driving Beam (EX variant) and LED tail lamps, while on the inside, it is identical to the sedan.
Thus, it gets a digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen (up to 9 inches in size), wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the unique metal honeycomb mesh on the dashboard concealing the air vents.
Although Honda has not disclosed any details about the engines which will power the new Civic Hatchback, it is likely to come with a 158 HP 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 180 HP 1.5-litre turbo petrol motor options.
As for the transmission, the car will be offered with the choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT and in terms of safety, it will get the regular passive systems and the latest Honda SENSING2 suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive tech.
During the 2022 Civic Hatchback’s world premiere, Honda also announced that it plans to begin sales of both the hybrid and Type R versions of the new Civic in 2022.
