The 2022 Ford Endeavour is longer and wider than its predecessor
Ford has revealed the new generation, 2022 Endeavour (also called the Everest elsewhere) today. The Ranger-based 3-row SUV is bigger and is said to be more capable.
When compared with the outgoing model, the new Endeavour has a 50 mm longer wheelbase, while the track has also grown by the same amount. To be sold in Ambiente, Trend, Sport, Titanium and Platinum grades, the car comes with new design overall.
Its all-new face comprises LED lights with C shaped DRLs, full-width grille and rugged bumper. Along the sides, the car has large wheels (up to 21 inches) and a bigger rear window this time around.
At the back, the angle at which the rear windscreen sits has been increased, while the tail lamp is now a full-width unit with smoked lens. The boot lid opening has been revised too.
Ford will sell the car with Matrix LED headlamps, variable zone exterior lighting (360-degree exterior ground lighting) and, depending upon the grade chosen, 2 different functional roof rails.
Inside, the dashboard is brand-new and comes equipped with a digital instrument cluster (8 or 12.4 inches) and a portrait-style infotainment touchscreen (10.1 or 12 inches).
Among the plentiful goodies on with the car are wireless device charging pad, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, heated and ventilated front seats, remote start function, gesture controlled powered tailgate, 360-degree camera, and more.
The American brand claims to have completely redesigned the third of the 2022 Endeavour and says occupants now have easy access to the last row of seats that get air-con vents as well.
There are numerous engine options that will offered with the SUV. Two 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel motors (single and twin-turbo setups), a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel and a 2.3-litre turbo-petrol are in the list.
The power and torque figures of the engines have yet to be released. The transmission options include a 6-speed auto and a 10-speed automatic. The 2 entry-level variants will be rear-wheel drive, while the other grades get 4-wheel drive as standard.
Speaking of which, the 4-wheel drive system makes use of an electronically-controlled on-demand 2-speed electromechanical transfer case and an electronic differential.
What’s more, the SUV features a Terrain Management system, selectable drive modes, up to 800 mm of water fording capability and up to 3500 kg of towing capacity with the optional Tow Pack.
For safety, the 2022 Ford Endeavour comes with up to 9 airbags, blind spot monitoring with trailer coverage, lane keep assist with road edge detection, adaptive cruise control, active park assist, pre-collision assist with interception assist, evasive steer assist and reverse brake assist.
The car’s pricing will be announced at a later stage. For now, it will be sold in Australia, as well as in many countries in the Asia Pacific and Africa. It is expected to come to India and will be sold as a completely built-up unit.
