Ducati Reveals Evolved Panigale V4 For 2022

Ducati claims the bike is now more intuitive and less tiring for a wide range of riders

The 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 and V4 S will be available overseas from December

Here we have the 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 and V4 S, which have been worked upon to go faster around a circuit than ever before.

The Panigale V4’s chassis, engine, ergonomics, aerodynamics and electronics have all been improved for 2022, says Ducati, which revealed the bike through the fifth episode of the Ducati World Premiere 2022.

But first, the design. Well, not much has changed. There are new graphics conceived by the Ducati Centro Stile and there is a double fabric saddle which, in S version, gets a 2-tone treatment. Sadly, the revised V4 and V4 S will be available only in the Ducati Red colour.

Design-wise, it still remains a stunning motorcycle

Now for the important bits. The MotoGP-derived 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale has larger diameter exhaust outlets, a new oil pump, updated lubrication circuit, and a new map.

Thanks to these updates, the 4-cylinder motor belts out 215.5 HP at 13,000 RPM and 123.6 Nm of torque at 9500 RPM. Yup, power is up by 1.5 HP and when the engine is spinning at 14,500 RPM, the peak power rises further by 2.5 HP.

Also the gearbox is new with longer first (by 11.6 percent), second (by 5.6 percent) and sixth (by 1.8 percent) gears, and it has a recalibrated quickshifter too. As a result, the super bike has a 5 km/hr higher top speed than earlier.

That is not all. The 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 has new power modes (Low (150 HP max), Medium, High and Full), 4 riding modes and a new ride-by-wire map management system.

The bikes have brakes from Brembo

The chassis of the bike comprises an aluminium and magnesium front frame and cast aluminium subframe. The swingarm is a single-sided unit made from aluminium and its pivot is positioned 4 mm higher now.

While the V4 has cast aluminum rims with a 5-spoke design, while the V4 S has 3-spoke forged aluminum alloy wheels that are wrapped with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres (120/70-R17 front and 200/60-R17 rear).

Suspension is different for both models. The ‘regular’ V4 has 43 mm fully-adjustable Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF), Sachs steering damper and Sachs rear monoshock (also fully adjustable).

Whereas the 2022 Panigale V4 S features new electronically controlled Ohlins NPX 25/30 front fork (125 mm travel), Ohlins TTX36 rear shock absorber and Ohlins steering damper, the latter 2 with event based control system.

Ducati will also sell an Akrapovic racing exhaust which will raise motor output to 228 HP and 131 Nm

Ducati has also given the motorcycles the latest-generation electronic package based on a 6-axis IMU. Even the dash has been improved and has a separate “Track Evo” display mode, while there is a green LED positioned on the left side of the dash to make gear change indication clearer.

The 2022 Panigale V4 has new and compact wings (which provide 37 kg of downforce at 300 km/hr), attached to the fairing, while the lower part of the fairing features redesigned extraction sockets to improve engine cooling.

Finally, ergonomics. More focus has also gone into finding the best compromise when it comes to rider ergonomics and handling. The rear portion of the tank has been restyled, the contact area for the arms has been enhanced and the seat is flatter, says the Borgo Panigale-based motorcycle manufacturer.

These bikes should come to India sometime next year, as the 2021 models were launched here only in June.
