The reveal of 2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS shows how far the bar has moved and how hard manufacturers have to duke it out even in the super naked bike category these days.
Developed from the ground up, the 2021 Speed Triple 1200 RS has a muscular yet compact body with sharp lines and elements like the carbonfibre front mudguard, colour coded belly pan and a compact tail unit.
New LED headlights with DRLs and LED tail lamp are further accompanied by new graphics, branded handlebar clamp, while Triumph has rightfully hid all the cables and hoses from one’s view.
It also comes with a 5-inch TFT instrument screen with 2 themes, and all the usual information one would need, while there is also a lap timer and My Triumph Connectivity System that lets the rider access navigation, among various other features.
Unsurprisingly, being a latest Triumph product, the Speed Triple 1200 RS comes with several features like a full keyless system, back-lit switchgear, self-cancelling indicators, 5 riding modes (Rain, Road, Sport, Track and Rider) and cruise control, while several others are available as optional extras.
Also new on the 2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS is the 1160cc triple motor that belts out a maximum of 180 PS at 10,750 RPM and 125 Nm of peak torque at 9000 RPM. It revs higher (11,150 RPM red line), is compact and lighter by 7 kg.
Mated to the engine is the new 6-speed gearbox that has optimised ratios. In addition, there are lightweight slip and assist clutch and up and down quickshifter too.
An all-new chassis has also shaved off more weight in comparison with the outgoing model, making the new Speed Triple 1200 RS 10 kg lighter, with an overall wet weight figure of 198 kg, also aided by the lightweight Lithium-ion battery.
Triumph claims the bike handles better aided by cast aluminium V-spoke alloys shod with Metzeler RACETEC RR tyres (Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC2 is the track option). It also has adjustable suspension from Ohlins and braking hardware from Brembo.
No matter how powerful it is, the motorcycle is designed to be a capable street bike. So, its maker has given it wider handlebars, a new seat (830 mm high) and better ergonomics along with improved ground clearance.
Safety features offered include Cornering ABS, switchable Cornering Traction Control (with IMU), front wheel lift control, and Triumph also offers plenty of new accessories like tinted or body-coloured flyscreen and machined parts, for the bike.
Colour options available with the bike are Sapphire Black (with red and silver graphics) and Matt Silver Ice (with black, silver and yellow graphics).
Set to launch in India on 28th January, the new Speed Triple 1200 RS comes with 2 years, unlimited mileage warranty and a 16,000 km service interval.
