The 2021 Toyota Yaris facelift has been launched in the Philippines with a reworked front fascia. Sold as the Vios in the the Republic of the Philippines, the car is to be launched in Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and head to India by next year.
As befits the term facelift, the Yaris’ face has changed with the grille now inspired from Lexus models that come with the huge and polarising spindle grille. Thus, it covers almost most of the front section of the sedan, save for the fog lamps that sit in a L-shaped housing on either side of it.
Above the grille sit the headlights which are LED units with integrated LED DRLs. There is a chrome element that runs from the Toyota emblem into the headlights as well.
Surprisingly, Toyota has not made any changes to the sides and the rear of the car. The Vios first hit global markets seven years ago and this opportunity could have been well used up.
Inside, the 2021 Toyota Yaris facelift retains its dashboard layout, much like how the exterior has not changed. It gets an updated 7-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Save for that single change, other features that were offered on the pre-facelift car, such as automatic climate control, roof-mounted AC vents, sunroof, among others, are present.
Expect the 2021 Toyota Yaris facelift to be launched in India with the same powertrain options as with the current car. Thus, the 1.5-litre petrol motor producing 107 PS and 140 Nm will come with a either 6-speed MT or a 7-step CVT.
Expect the prices to remain largely the same, since the car has yet to gain sufficient numbers to take the fight to its rivals such as the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the likes.
