Toyota India has launched the 2021 Fortuner with a starting price tag of Rs. 29.98 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Introduced through a virtual event, the SUV was also accompanied by the more stylish Legender variant that is now the flagship of the Fortuner range and costs Rs. 37.58 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Let us look at the refreshed Fortuner first, shall we? For the 2021 model year, Toyota has given the car a new look. It comes with an enlarged radiator grille, new sleek-looking headlights, new fog light housing, revised bumper, different tail lights and alloy wheels.
It comes with plentiful features such as powered tailgate, smart entry, puddle lamps, ventilated front seats, leather upholstery (synthetic leather is mixed) in Chamois and Black shades, cruise control and automatic climate control.
There is a 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car featuers, 11-speaker JBL sound system (4WD), park assist, 3 drive modes – Eco, Normal, Sport, electrochromic IRVM, among several other features in addition.
The Toyota Fortuner Legender on the other hand looks even more sharp and angular with quad LED headlights, different front profile with a small front grille with piano black accents and new front and rear bumpers.
Being the more premium variant, it comes with sequential turn indicators, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, 2-tone paint, dual-tone Black and Maroon interior upholstery with contrast stitching, handsfree tailgate and wireless smartphone charging too.
Interestingly, Toyota is pitching the regular Fortuner as the rugged variant, which is why it comes in both 4×2 and 4×4 variants, while the Legender is more suited to urban environments and can be had only with 2-wheel-drive.
Engine options for the Fortuner include a 2.7-litre petrol (166 PS and 245 Nm) and a 2.8-litre diesel (204 PS and up to 500 Nm) and it comes paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. The Legender comes only with the diesel motor and automatic transmission.
Both cars have 7 airbags, vehicle stability control with brake assist, traction control, hill assist control, ABS, EBD and ISOFIX mounts.
