Production of the 2021 model year Tata Safari is currently underway and a picture of a completely built unit has been snapped at the manufacturer’s facility.
Riding on steelies, the car, painted in a dark blue shade (seen in a spy shot and in the teaser earlier) features the new grille with bi-arrow elements.
While the lighting units do look the same, the chrome garnish in the headlights is a bit different. No other changes look to have been made to the front fascia.
But, look along the sides and the difference between the Harrier and the new Safari is apparent as it has a stepped roof and a different C-pillar design, while there are roof rails too.
At the back, the SUV will get a revised bumper, a bigger windscreen in comparison, a chrome strip connecting both tail lamps and the model’s name is picked out in bold lettering.
With 2021 Tata Safari production underway, it would be interesting to see the changes Tata has made to the car’s insides. The model that was spotted has black seats and light grey plastic trim.
But, no big changes are expected to be made and those who know the Harrier’s interior well will feel at home in the Safari too. Of course, the additional seating is a bonus.
Tata surprised us by bringing the Safari moniker back. But no such surprises are expected when it comes to the engine and gearboxes on offer.
The Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine making a maximum of 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque and the 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions will remain the same.
But, having named the car Safari, Tata should offer it with 4-wheel-drive and, we expect it to also come in Camo and Dark editions, like its 5-seater sibling.
