Suzuki has officially revealed the 2021 Hayabusa with revised looks, reworked engine and new-age electronics to bring the superbike up to speed.
It looks like Suzuki sweated a lot trying to keep the legendary status of the Hayabusa intact, while also styling to make it look modern.
The bike has new LED lighting units, a ram air intake upfront, redesigned body panels, windscreen, mirrors and rear seat cowl. Of course, the chassis has been revised as well. Made from extruded aluminium, it has a new subframe too.
Speed and agility has been the key focus for Suzuki when it developed the 2021 Hayabusa. Thus, the firm has brought the handlebar closer to the rider by 12 mm and transferred more weight to the front.
Aerodynamics is another part the firm concentrated on very much this time. One look at the mirrors will tell us that much, but cooling has also been improved upon, since the bike should do 299 km/hr whenever needed.
Powering the motorcycle is the well known 1340cc 4-cylinder engine that has been extensively reworked. It has new pistons, con rods, camshafts and while the crank is the same, it has been refined now.
Suzuki says it tried turbocharged motors and even 6-cylinder engines for the new Hayabusa over the past 10 years, but settled for the tried and tested 4-pot in the end.
Peak power is rated at 190 PS at 9700 RPM and max torque is 150 Nm at 7000 RPM. Suzuki has concentrated on providing more low- and mid-range torque and now the bike has more power between 5000 RPM and 6000 RPM. Also, it has a bi-directional quickshifter and autoblipper.
The bike weighs 264 kg and has a 20-litre fuel tank and sports KYB USD forks upfront and link-type KYB rear shock to do the damping duty, while brakes are now Brembo Stylema units. The bike has 120-section front and 190-section rear rubber wrapped around new 7-spoke rims.
One thing the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa has in spades is latest electronics. There is a new version of the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), a 6-axis IMU, ride modes, lean angle sensitive traction control, ABS, launch control, anti-wheelie, engine braking settings, cruise control, hill hold control, among others on offer.
Colours currently offered on the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa include Glass Sparkle Black with Candy Burnt Gold and Metallic Matt Sword Silver with Candy Daring Red.
It will not take much time for the motorcycle to reach customers overseas, for it will arrive at UK dealerships next month and cost GBP 16,499 (RRP) (Rs. 16.48 lakhs). Yep, Suzuki will bring the Busa to India as well and we cannot wait.
