2021 Skoda Octavia has been spotted undisguised while on test in India. The previous generation was not upgraded to meet BS6 norms. The new gen model is expected to come only with turbo petrol engines when it goes on sale.
The car looks the business and upfront it is seen with LED head lamps with DRLs, LED fog lights and that wide grille with chrome surround, the design of which is debatable.
The bonnet has a slight bulge and gets two pairs of creases, while a prominent line runs from the headlight to the boot-lid. Wheels appear to be 17-inch ones and because it is for India, the ride height has been raised.
There are LED taillights at the back and the brand name is spelled out on the boot-lid, which by the way is a hatch. We can also see that the interior will be dual tone.
It appears Skoda said “sod it” to the camouflage because the model has already been revealed abroad, which is wise because Indians are increasingly spending more time online with all these “stay-at-home or risk dying” stuff.
Other details that we know of is that the 2021 Skoda Octavia is based on the revised MQB platform, is bigger than the old Octavia in length (19 mm) and width (15 mm), thus more roomier inside.
Features such as a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster, heads-up display, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, gesture control, connected car tech, digital assistant (weirdly named the Laura from a couple of generations ago), climate control and wireless mobile charging, will be there.
Two turbo petrol engines might be offered on the 2021 Skoda Octavia, with the larger one being a 2.0-litre TSI unit producing 190 HP and mated to a 7-speed DSG. The smaller unit might be a 1.5-litre TSI with 150 HP mated to a manual to be offered in lower variants.
