2021 Skoda Octavia production commences in India, first unit rolls off the assembly line at the carmaker’s Aurangabad facility. Skoda is all set to launch the new generation Octavia later this month.
This is the fourth generation model of the Octavia in India. The first generation was launched 20 years back in 2001 and it was the carmaker’s first offering in our country.
The second generation Octavia was sold with the name of Laura in India since Skoda continued the sales of first gen for a long time. The third generation Octavia became quite popular in India offering modern features, roominess and a fun to drive character, more so with the RS version. Over 1 lakh units of the Octavia have been sold so far in India.
The 2021 Skoda Octavia is based on the updated MQB architecture. It will be offered with a 2.0-lite turbo petrol engine producing 190 HP, mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. There will be no diesel engine on offer. We can expect it to be priced in the range of Rs. 20-25 lakhs (ex-showroom).
