The asking price of the 2021 Mercedes S-Class has seen a considerable jump over its predecessor’s cost
Mercedes has launched the 2021 S-Class, the asking price of which begins from Rs. 2.17 crores (ex-showroom), today in India.
The seventh-generation model is offered in S 450 4MATIC and S 400d 4MATIC trims and is brought to India as a completely built-up unit.
Mercedes says more than half of the 150 ‘Launch Edition’ units (that come with AMG Line exteriors and interiors) it had allocated for India have already been accounted for.
Available with exterior colour choices such as Anthracite Blue, Designo Diamond White, Emerald Green, Onyx Black and Rubellite Red, the luxury car’s interior trim colours include Macchiato beige/Magma grey and Sienna Brown/Black.
The 2021 Mercedes S-Class price gets customers the second-generation MBUX system that works with 5 large displays (including a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, rear tablet and 2 screens as part of rear seat entertainment system).
There are several more features on offer, some of which include voice assistant, Mercedes me connect, ambient lighting, massage seats (front and rear), Burmester 4D surround sound system with 30 loudspeakers and 8 resonators.
The S 450 variant comes with a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder petrol engine putting out 367 HP and 500 Nm of torque. It can do the 0-100 km/hr dash in 5.1 seconds.
Whereas, the S 400d model is equipped with a 2.9-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine making 330 HP and 700 Nm of torque. It does the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 5.4 seconds.
Both variants have a top speed of 250 km/hr and also feature rear-axle steering that turns the rear wheels up to 4.5 degrees.
Safety-wise, there are a myriad of equipment, including frontal rear airbags and Driving Assistance Package 5.0, to keep occupants safe.
