The reasons one would have to buy a 2021 Mercedes A-Class Limousine are aplenty. But, chiefly, it will be because of the fact that it is a product wearing the 3-pointed star badge.
However, there is more to it than just the badge, for the product comes with plentiful goodies, nice styling and multiple powertrain options, giving something for every discerning customer.
Exterior design – There were many who did not like the A-Class Limousine when its images were released, for, to their eyes, it came off as a bland-looking car. But, when looked at in person, the sedan has presence and the simple styling actually works in its favour, especially when seen Denim Blue shade.
Features – Mercedes is on top of its game when it comes to interiors these days. Apart from the classy layout, the A-Class Limousine comes with plentiful features as well. There are 2 10.25-inch screens on the dash, smartphone connectivity, wireless device charger, electrically adjustable front seats, panoramic sunroof, and more on offer as standard.
Driving dynamics – When our own Parth Gohil tested the car (powered by the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine), he found it to be punchy and responsive and to add to the experience, the A-Class Limousine also had well-sorted driving dynamics and precise handling. The car had very little body roll and drove with an air of confidence at speed.
Safety tech – This is a topic that Indians are slowly starting to speak about. Those who put safety at the top of the 2021 Mercedes A-Class Limousine reasons to buy list would not be disappointed, for it comes with Pre-Safe, 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, active brake assist, reversing camera, ESP, among others.
Rear seat support – The A-Class Limousine is not a big car by any means and it shows when it comes to rear seat comfort. While there is enough legroom and headroom for rear seat occupants, thigh support is not great since the seat is placed a bit low. Also, a certain few who like to wear large boots might even find it tricky to get out of the car from the back.
Petrol variant NVH – Yes, we did like the zestful nature in which the 1.3-litre petrol motor goes about its business. But, it is a noisy unit and some of the clatter does filter into the cabin, which is not that great, especially when the price of the car is considered. The only way to deal with this issue to drive faster as the engine sounds good at higher RPMs.
Diesel engine tune – For some reason Mercedes decided that the 2.0-litre diesel unit should make do with a 150 HP tune. Although it is potent, the premium sedan’s direct rival, the 2-Series Gran Coupe diesel trim has more power and does the 0-100 km/hr run faster. The same goes for the petrol variant as well, which makes the small BMW sedan more fun to drive.
Price – In comparison with its direct rival, the BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe, the A-Class Limousine has a higher entry price point (Rs. 2 lakhs more to be precise). The diesel 2-Series is a good Rs. 50,000/- cheaper as well. However, for some, it might come down to the looks and this is where the A-Class holds the advantage.
