2021 Maruti Celerio Design Patent Leaked, Looks Unlike Its Predecessor

It looks more wider than the outgoing model

The patent images reveal the exterior styling of the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio in detail

Leaked patent images of the soon-to-be launched 2021 Maruti Celerio reveal the new styling language the city runabout has undertaken.

Like the Baleno and the third-generation Swift, the car’s exterior styling is more rounded and, as is the case with most cars these days, it has grown in size as well.

Upfront, the car sports new headlights, a smaller grille and a lateral bar that splits the grille into 2 (should be in chrome) while also connecting the maker’s logo with the main lights.

The front bumper has been restyled and houses the circular fog lamps, while the lower air intake has also reduced in size. Maruti has added a splitter-esque element to the bumper as well.

The budget hatchback should offer decent interior room for occupants

Along the sides, the second-generation Celerio looks longer and its overall height seems to have come down by a bit. The bonnet is placed higher than before, while the window area, although similar in shape, is slightly smaller.

The rear profile of the leaked 2021 Maruti Celerio patent images show the increased width of the model. Its windscreen is narrower, but wider, and there are new tail lamps, boot lid and bumper too.

Sporting restyled alloy wheels, the new generation Celerio will come with lift-type door handles, a standard antenna, and exterior door mirrors that look similar to the ones on the outgoing model.

Its boot capacity might have also grown by a small amount

Although the 2021 Maruti Celerio patent images do not show the car’s interior, expect it to come with a new layout and a very similar list of features as offered with the Maruti Wagon R.

Underpinned by the HEARTECT platform, the 2021 Celerio is likely to come with 2 petrol engine options – 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre units – and both 5-speed manual and automated manual transmission choices.

Set to be launched in the coming months, the hatchback should be offered in a CNG variant as well and it will rival the Hyundai Santro, along with its own stablemate, the Wagon R.
