2021 Mahindra XUV500-Based Ford C-SUV’s Design Almost Complete
The SUV looks different than its Indian twin and will also be a bit shorter in terms of length.
The design of the upcoming Ford C-SUV based on latest-generation Mahindra XUV500 is almost complete. Codenamed W605, the SUV’s developmental work will begin from early next year.
While Ford will make use of the platform that underpins the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 for its latest SUV, it is said that the car might be a bit shorter length-wise and have a different wheelbase as well.
Of course, the upcoming Ford C-SUV design will be such that it looks different than its Indian twin and it is likely that Ford will fine-tune it differently so that it handles and rides like a Ford should.
Powering the car would be a 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol motor that makes 187 BHP at 5000 RPM and 380 Nm from 1750-4000 rpm. A 2.0-litre diesel engine, set to debut in the 2021 Mahindra XUV500, will also be offered.
Production of the car will take place at Mahindra’s plant, while it might get launched during the latter part of 2021 or in early 2022.
