2021 KTM RC 390 Spotted In India

Its looks will grow on people as time flies past

A test mule of upcoming new generation 2021 KTM RC 390 has been spotted undisguised at Chakan in Pune.

Looking identical to the model spotted on test overseas, the development mule seen in India is seemingly ready to be put into production.

Looks like KTM thought it better to just paint the bike black and leave it as it is, discounting the camouflage stickers around the seats, for the front fender, fairing, fuel tank, all come in black, while the new subframe is painted in the famous shade of orange.

Featuring a new design, the supersports motorbike makes use of the naked Duke 390’s LED headlight system at the front, while a flyscreen wraps around it. At the edges of the flyscreen sit the indicators and DRLs, while there are new mirrors in place as well.

The fairing on this pre-production test mule has numerous creases and vents and it is clear that KTM wants to keep the rider immune from windblast to an extent, while also channelling hot air from the motor away from the rider’s legs.

KTM has sought to offer better ergonomics for the rider on the new RC 390 and, as seen on the 2021 KTM RC 390 test mule, the new bars, seat design, and larger fuel tank, all look to have been designed to make life a bit more easier for the one riding the vehicle.

However, the pillion seat is set high and while there are grab handles, it would have been better had KTM offered a seat strap, which would be more comfortable for the passenger to hold onto.

No image of rear section of this particular mule are available. But, the slim indicators and number plate holder are present, while the test mule also sports a new exhaust end can with a heat shield.

Sporting new lightweight alloy wheels (KTM had to look at reducing the bike’s weight somehow), the 2021 RC 390 should sport the Duke 390’s digital instrument cluster and electronics.

Powering the bike that is set to be launched in India this year, would the same 373cc which should deliver around the same power and torque figures as the current generation RC 390, if not more.

The current RC 390’s looks would be missed when it gets replaced
