Kia India has launched the refreshed 2021 Sonet with a starting price tag of Rs. 6.79 lakhs and the 2021 Seltos, which now costs from Rs. 9.95 lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom, India).
The Korean carmaker claims to have provided the Seltos and Sonet with, respectively, 17 and 10 new enhancements. Many existing features from higher variants of both models have now been extended to lower variants.
Let us take a close look at the changes each model has gone through, starting with the Sonet that now gets automatic options with both 1.0-litre turbo petrol (7-speed DCT) and 1.5-litre diesel (6-speed AT) in the HTX trim.
Now, the 2021 Kia Sonet price will get customers paddle shifters in all of the car’s automatic variants, rear door sunshade and voice command sunroof operation, both of which the brand claims are segment-first features.
Further, the car gets multi drive and traction modes, and lower variants are now equipped with electric sunroof, Smart Key with push button start, remote engine start, chrome door handles and Crystal cut alloys with silver wheel caps.
Similarly, lower variants will now get safety features such as Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Assist Control (HAC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM).
The refreshed 2021 model year Kia Seltos, like the Sonet, also gets paddle shifters, but only in GTX+ 1.4-litre turbo petrol (7DCT) and GTX+ 1.5-litre diesel (6AT) trims.
That aside, Kia now offers the Seltos with the iMT option in the HTK+ 1.5-litre petrol variant, while a new variant in the form of GTX(O) 1.4-litre turbo petrol has also been introduced.
Features that the compact SUV now comes with include a ‘Smart Pure Air Purifier’, Remote Engine Start (in MT models), wireless phone projection, Over-The-Air (OTA) map updates and additional voice commands on UVO connected car system including sunroof open and close and driver window control.
Moreover, there are multiple new seat material and colour options available with the car and, as it did with the Sonet, Kia has extended safety features such as ESC, CSM, BA and HAC to lower variants of the Seltos as well.
