The internet has a habit of giving us surprises, and this time it’s the new 2021 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. The Japanese firm plans on unveiling six new bikes in the near future, including the aforementioned.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is one of the highest-selling litre-class superbikes in India, and it’s the most affordable one too. Kawasaki had already launched the BS6 iteration here in the initial months of 2020, but they are now making way for the 2021 model.
The leaked image shows the full-fledged production model of the upcoming bike without any camouflage. Consequently, there’s a lot of detail and one can easily make out the changes.
Firstly, the new ZX-10R looks pretty different aesthetically. The headlight assembly looks all-new and will get a full-LED setup. The new front end now resembles the smaller Ninjas, making the ZX-10R a better fit in the line-up. The tailpiece looks revised too, as it looks more muscular than before.
The windscreen also looks taller, making the front look a tad more aggressive. However, on a personal anecdote, I think they’ve overdone the front end a little and the matte-green finish is a little too green even for the Ninja.
Another thing that will catch your eye is the new TFT display. The current-spec Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R uses an LCD display which isn’t really dated but almost all litre-class bikes have switched to TFT’s. Likely so, the 2021 Ninja ZX-10R will also switch to a TFT setup and we expect Kawasaki to load it with a sweet electronics package too.
The new electronics package might take inspiration from Kawasaki’s WSBK championship-winning bike and will be up-to-date with all modern bells and whistles. Along with this, the new ZX-10R might also switch to Brembo Stylema callipers as well in order to offer better braking performance at hand.
While performance still remains a mystery, we expect the 998cc inline-4 motor to make a little more power than before and have a different state of tune to take on the fierce competition.
Priced at Rs. 13.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) currently, the Kawasaki ZX-10R is the most “value-for-money” superbike in India. While we’re sure that the 2021 model will be costlier, it might still retain its “value-for-money” tag, thanks to the new premium components.
